Who Am I?

Walei stands in front of the painting Water Lilies by the artist Claude Monet. He is in profile, holding his phone and listening to the verbal description for the artwork through his earbuds. The painting takes up the entire background.

I’m Walei Sabry. A blind middle eastern man who was born in Egypt and raised in New York City. My experience informs my work. I started my career as an assistive technology instructor. I taught other blind folks how to use technology to communicate and seek employment. I have also provided customer support to people with disabilities in various settings. From there I went on to be New York City’s First ever Digital Accessibility Coordinator. My experience using assistive tech, supporting customers with disabilities and testing products for accessibility has given me a holistic understanding of the industry. Whether you are a large organization or a small business, there is something for me to teach you!
